Aries, Moon in Libra, Venus in Pisces
Age 3: experimented with mud.
Age 6: discovered the beach and built sand castles.
Age 9: ‘mastered’ the art of mashed potato sculptures at dinner
With loads of creative energy, James always wanted to experiment and try just about everything From winning awards in Football and Wrestling to attending a High School for the Arts with experience in Educational T.V. and Radio; three years in a University Theatre School ‘Acting’ program with 7 years of dance including 2 years with the Alberta Contemporary Dance Theatre Company. James has continually sought out new jobs ranging from: Plumber, Construction, Structural Steel Worker, Painter, Tree Planter, Landscaper, Clothing Factory Worker, Taxi Driver, School Bus Driver, Motor Coach Driver, to Driving Instructor. He also holds a Commercial Helicopter Pilot’s Licence.
James attended the University of Victoria, British Columbia and earned a Bachelor of Education Degree: (Secondary) Visual Arts and Dramatic Arts. To his credit, James has been paid to sing and even paid not to sing. He has also used his theatre and visual art experience as a Set Designer for Musical Theatre productions and once Directed 11 very short complete plays all at the same time!
After 30 years of teaching high school visual and dramatic arts in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, James has
retired and moved to his Vancouver studio but still visits both Edmonton and Ottawa.
James was awarded "Volunteer of the Year' - 2008 from the Boys and Girls Club of Ottawa for the teaching of special sculpture workshops for the club.
